Privacy policy

The short version: we publish data, we don't broker bookings, and we don't store PII. Below is the long version, in plain language.

What we collect

  • Newsletter email — only if you subscribe. Stored in our database with the IP that submitted it (for spam control). Used only to deliver the newsletter and to confirm subscription. Unsubscribe link in every email.
  • Saved trips — stored in your browser's local storage, not on our server. They never leave your device unless you export the JSON yourself.
  • Theme & locale — localStorage entries so the site doesn't flash white on every navigation. Necessary cookies under GDPR Art. 5(3).
  • Aggregate analytics — when enabled, we use Plausible (privacy-first, no cookies, no fingerprinting, EU-hosted). Counts page views, referrers, countries — never tied to a person.
  • Affiliate click logs — when you click through to a partner OTA, we log the click on the server with: timestamp, page slug, partner, and a session-scoped random ID. No cookies dropped on you. We never see your booking.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell or share data with third-party advertisers.
  • We don't run retargeting pixels or display ads.
  • We don't store consumer PII (no accounts, no booking history).
  • We don't fingerprint your browser or device.
  • We don't transfer data outside the EU/UK without standard contractual clauses.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links to partner OTAs (Booking.com, Agoda, Travelpayouts, Klook, etc.) are affiliate links. If you book through them, the partner may pay us a commission. We never re-rank destinations or stays for commission — methodology is documented openly at /methodology.

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

EU/UK residents: you have the right to access, correct, delete, export, and restrict processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of previous processing. California residents: you have the right to know, delete, and opt out of the sale of personal information (we don't sell, but the right exists).

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We respond within 30 days. You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Cookies

Detailed list lives at /cookies. TL;DR: theme + locale + your consent choice are stored in localStorage. Nothing else is set by us. You can clear them via your browser at any time without breaking the site.

Changes to this policy

Material changes are announced on the changelog and the newsletter. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
